Youth Duck & Pheasant Hunt Program 2024
Some pictures from years past.

Hello All, I hope this finds you all well.

I just wanted to give a quick shout out and "thank you" to all of you that participated in last Saturdays LEC Youth Pheasant Hunt at Kents Island WMA, it was a great success, again.

Thanks to Pat Baker, our Youth Hunt Chairman, for running and coordinated everything from the dog handlers, Pheasant pick up, and seminar/ qualifying shoot. Patrick and his team of volunteers do a great job!

Thank you, Paige and Nolan, for helping with Pheasant stocking before and during the hunt. This was Paige's first-time stocking, I hope you had fun, and Nolan's yearly stocking adventure, but better than that he was able to take part in this year's hunt also. He did a great job at both, and I think he like's stocking better, just guessing.

Kagan, Kenny, Mark, and all the other dog handlers did a great job, even given the rainy weather, the birds didn't want to fly, and the dogs were pretty wet and tired by the end of the day but kept on hunting until the end.

All the hunters had a "safe" hunt our number 1 priority, all that enter the fields return safely out of the fields, including parents, mentors, and dogs!

Everyone harvested birds except for one young hunter who had multiple opportunities, but just couldn't connect. They all had a good hunt, a little bit wetter than normal, hopefully we have the same kind of rainy weather for next Month's LEC Youth Duck hunt up at Parker River on October 19th.

Thanks to Mass Wildlife and The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at Parker River for your continuing support of the LEC Youth Hunting programs, without you and all of our volunteers these programs would have ended a very long time ago.

Which brings me to another Youth hunt program Milestone. once again, this year we have had a family of 3 generations on these hunts, before it was the Baker family, father, kids and grandchildren. this year it is the Stokes family, Brendan Stokes(dad), brought both Kegan and Paige many years ago on the youth hunts, now Brendan has brought his grandson Nolan on the Youth Pheasant Hunt! Kegan had his Sergeants test on Saturday and was unable to attend, I'm sure you did great on that too.Ê

This is an example of how important these programs are to us as the hunting community to bring the next and future generations of sportsmen and sportswomen into the field of hunting.Ê

Paige had her son with her on Saturday, another generation.Ê Hank has a great program for young Olympic shooters, including his son Hank Jr. who has been all over the country and world hunting and shooting in competition's, it's just fantastic.Ê

We have been lucky, in this commonwealth, to continue these programsÊ since 1965, I hope they will last for many more generations and young hunters.

Thanks again to everyone,

Mike Robinson
